Did you know Jimmy’s has been in their downtown Bridgeport location since 1920? That’s right! One hundred years ago, Max “Jimmy” Schneider, a bodyguard and pro boxer, bought 990 Main Street for $300.

Back then, Bridgeport was a bustling manufacturing city and Jimmy’s Army Navy clothed the Park City’s working men. Jimmy quit the ring and focused on building a successful family business, which has withstood fashion trends that have come and gone as three generations of Schneiders have taken the helm.

As manufacturing slowly left Bridgeport, the store provided new styles to match the times. From chambray shirts to bowling slacks, hippie garb, disco queen couture, bell-bottoms, and everything in between, Jimmy’s has morphed and met and exceeded customer demand. In the early 1980s, hip-hop came around and Jimmy's was on it. In 1985 we had Shell Toe Adidas, Nike and Air Jordans. In 1986 Jimmy's brought in a Phat Farm argyle vest from a guy named Russel Simmons. The rest is history. Jimmy's is CT's Original Hip-Hop Spot. 

We run our family business like a family. Ninety percent of our employees have worked here for over 20 years! Jimmy’s has proudly remained THE neighborhood store committed to its loyal customer base.
